    The MOLY XL Package

    Formulated with very special liquid molybdenum compounds that are completely oil soluble. There is no settling out of the moly compounds and neither are they filtered out. Anti-wear is improved to a higher level because of these special moly products. You will find MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® III also offers protection during times of extreme pressure and many times offers better fuel economy.

                                Exceeds Specifications

    Meets and exceeds the latest diesel engine oil specifications CH-4 and CI-4. This product also meets and exceeds the gasoline engine specification SL. In addition, it meets or exceeds these additional diesel engine specs - - - Mack EO-N Premium Plus, Cummins CES 20078, ACEA E5-B3-A3, Volvo VDS-3 and Global DHD-1.

    High Quality Base Stock

    A blend of synthetic oil, which incorporates the purest and finest severely hydrocracked and hydrofinished base stocks available. This unique combination of base stocks provides improved oil flow for superior cold cranking protection. In addition, when high engine operating temperatures are encountered, this unique synthetic blend ensures a superior oil film of protection for vital moving engines parts.

    The pure and highly refined base stocks contribute to an oil with low oil volatility. Because of the base stock's ability to resist oxidation during high heat operation, you use less oil due to consumption and evaporation. This means longer service life for the oil, reduced oil consumption yet better engine protection. MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® III SYNTHETIC BLEND base stock, along with an outstanding additive package, means no varnish, gum or sludge build-up on internal engine parts. This leads to extended equipment life and reduced operating cost.

    Provides Superior Soot Control

    New diesel engine designs, especially those using exhaust gas recirculating (EGR), create more contaminants that end up in the engine oil. Uses new generation additives to suspend and disperse more soot and particulate matter to prevent wear to liners, rings, and the valve train.

    Handles Exhaust Gas Recirculation
    (EGR) Diesel Engine Designs

    Tackles the numerous problems associated with Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) used in new diesel engines designs. Exhaust gas is recirculated to be burned a second time and this gas displaces oxygen. In doing this, many of the exhaust contaminants end up in the engine oil. Oils exposed to EGR systems show an increase in soot, acid number (AN) and viscosity - - while the engine and the oil are both exposed to corrosive/acidic gases, particulate build-up and  excessive moisture. Offers superior protection from all these problems and more.

    Counteracts Oxidation and Sludging

    New engine designs subject the engine oil to higher tempera- tures which coupled with exhaust gases could act as a catalyst 
    for oxidation of the oil. An improperly functioning exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system can cause much more rapid deteri- oration of an engine oil. MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® III with its beefed up oxidation inhibitor counteracts oxidation or sludging and routine oil analysis helps to allow longer drain intervals. 

    Execellent Total Base Number (TBN) Retention

    Formulated in such a way that it achieves a Total Base Number (TBN) of 15 Plus. Just in case you run into other products with high TBN levels, you need to understand TBN retention. Motor oils use up their TBN at different rates. Most motor oils consume the TBN chemistry quickly. Contains a TBN booster of superior quality. This means longer drain intervals are possible as long as routine oil analysis is also used.

    The unsurpassed quality TBN additives used by Texas Refinery Corp. neutralizes more acids, controls corrosion and provides exceptional protection to reduce ring and liner wear while offering a large reserve of TBN that is not rapidly depleted.

    Reduces Friction and Minimizes Wear

    The MOLY XL portion of the product reduces friction and minimizes wear at start-up and during operation. Many customers report cooler running engines. Some customers swear they get a boost in horsepower. By releasing friction, 
    the available horsepower is converted to work instead of heat.

    Total Base Number (TBN) of 15 Plus
    To Control Corrosion

    Made with a high Total Base Number (TBN) of 15 Plus. Some turbo charged diesel engines take in 16,000 gallons of air per minute. Acidic compounds can form since 60% of the air is Nitrogen. Therefore, the ability of MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® III to control corrosion provides exceptional protection to reduce ring and liner wear.

    Contains a Total Base Number (TBN) Booster

    Contains numerous new generation additives including a Total Base Number (TBN) booster to help control the extra problems created by exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems in new diesel engine designs. The TBN booster along with routine oil analysis helps MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® III extend drain intervals since there is a huge reserve of detergents and dispersants providing extra protection. In addition, superior detergents provide  high temperature cleanliness, control corrosive wear, help suspend soot and neutralize acids.

    Moly Compounds Cling to Metal

    The advantages gained from the MOLY XL portion  are significant in the all-important areas of friction reduction and wear resistance. The moly compounds cling to metal at all times, even when the oil has been drained out of the engine. At start-up and during operation, the moly compounds prevent metal surfaces from coming in contact with one another.

    Superior Friction Reduction

    Possesses excellent friction reduction properties The following graph compares commercial grade motor oil to MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® III MOTOR OIL based on load.

    The occurrence of friction is also related to temperature changes. The next graph illustrates how the friction coefficient of commercial grade oil compares to MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® III.
    Note that the reduction in friction continues even as the temperature keeps climbing.


     
     

    Improves Anti-Wear Features

    Offers improved anti-wear properties. Using the Four-Ball Wear Test Machine, data was generated to plot Graph 3 on the following page. The Wear Ratio is the Wear Scar diameter divided by the Mean Hertz diameter for that load. 
    A Wear Ratio 1.0 indicates no wear.

    Added Protection At Extreme Pressure

    Formulated with extra pressure protection. Graph 3 not only shows improved wear protection, it also illustrates the extreme protection benefit. Better protection is provided when the MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® III is subjected to loads above the normal anti-wear levels.
